A childhood story taught me to respect animals. Later in my life, a Thanksgiving story that I read to my second-grade class inspired me to celebrate my Thanksgiving dinners in a totally untraditional and compassionate way. Nature has always reminded me to treat animals with kindness and respect. So, I published my first picture book story "To Be Free" to remind children that animals are individual beings that are born free, and their natural habitats are their homes.
